Loofah is a great treat for your pet. They’re super cheap and promote good dental health.
The loofah used for Chinnie Boutique is made from organic heirloom loofah that we purchase locally. It has never been bleached. It is cleaned, hand-cut, and prepared in small batches. While we aim for consistency, some of our chews may be lighter or darker in tone than the pictures shown here. This is due to the soak time, dry time, and possibly the computer screen’s color output. Even natural loofah may take on lighter or darker off-white beige tones which may affect the final lot.
- All loofah slices are expected to be at least 2” in diameter and around 1" thick, however, it may shrink during the drying process.
-Natural Loofah is only cleaned, never dyed or flavored.

Loofah is a natural product and will be unique in size and shape with every gourd.
Usually, it’s round, sometimes it’s square, may look like a flower - or my favorite - takes on a “heart” shape!
Additional Information about Loofah/Luffa
Loofah is a popular dental chew for cleaning teeth and stimulating your pet’s natural chewing behavior. While loofah AKA luffa is technically a gourd in the cucumber family cultivated and eaten as a vegetable, this is not considered feeding your chinchilla veggies! It must be harvested at a young stage of development to be edible. Loofah for our pet is grown into late-stages then dried. All the vegetable “pulp” is dehydrated and washed away, leaving us with the “skeleton” fibrous interior. While it’s a popular chew toy for chinchillas, cats, and other small animals it is also a popular scrubbie for human bodies and dishes…… and it’s Eco friendly/biodegradable!
