About me:

Meet Pretty Girl Panta

We’re calling her Pretty, just like her dad did.

Pretty came to the rescue after her family could no longer keep her. When her original owner moved out, she was left behind with her dad, who lovingly cared for her for another three years. However, as he prepared for retirement and life on the road, he made the heartbreaking decision to surrender her—knowing it wouldn’t be safe to bring her along. He cried as he entrusted her to us, asking only that we find her the perfect final home. That’s exactly what we hope to do.

Medical & Environmental Needs

Shortly after arriving, we noticed Pretty had a weepy eye. Initially, our vet treated her for conjunctivitis with antibiotic eye drops, but her condition did not improve. Over several months, we tested different environmental factors, removing potential allergens one by one—with no success. Oral antibiotics were introduced alongside her eye drops, but long-term improvement remained elusive.

After extensive visual exams and X-rays, our vet ruled out dental issues as the cause. The conclusion? Pretty is simply a sensitive girl, prone to irritation from airborne allergens. Because of this, she would thrive in a home with minimal pets, rather than in a rescue environment with constant exposure to different animals. She is currently in a foster home to help manage her condition.

Current Medical Hold

Recently, Pretty has developed gas and bloating complications. X-rays confirmed no blockages, and our vet believes she has a GI tract infection. She is currently on a soft diet, being hand-fed multiple times a day, and receiving oral antibiotics, probiotics, and motility medication. This is a temporary regimen, but she won’t be available for adoption until she has fully recovered.

What She Needs in a Forever Home

We’re searching for a quiet, small household with few pets that can offer her the stability and care she deserves. To keep her comfortable, we recommend:
An air purifier to reduce airborne irritants
Fleece liners instead of wood or paper bedding
Hay cubes rather than loose hay, to minimize dust exposure

An ideal adopter would be a veterinarian, vet tech, or student with experience in small animal care—but this is not a requirement. Most importantly, she needs a patient and loving home where she can truly thrive.

To adopt, you must apply with Cali_FID Rescue. Go to www.califidparrotandexotic.com and fill out the adoption application.
