About me:

Meet Molly!

This little girl came to us from a Los Angeles shelter, where she was mistakenly marked as male and surrendered alongside a guinea pig on the 17th. Since she’s a she, we gave her a fitting name—Molly.

Molly traveled 300+ miles to reach @califid rescue. Sadly, due to being housed with a guinea pig and likely attacked, she is fearful of cagemates—even suitable ones like other chinchillas. Every attempt to introduce her to a companion has resulted in a fearful reaction.

When she arrived, Molly was thin, hungry, dirty, and fur-chewed. She had patches of missing fur in places she couldn't reach herself, indicating she had been attacked. The guinea pig she was found with was also missing fur, and Molly had scabbed, bitten ears, with a small piece eventually falling off.

After months of care, Molly has transformed—her fur has grown back into a beautiful plush coat, she’s gained weight, and she’s started opening up to her foster mom. While she is still shy, she watches hands with curiosity and is slowly learning to trust. We believe she was raised with little human interaction, so she needs patience, kindness, and a gentle touch to fully come out of her shell.

Molly is not suited for cagemates and would thrive as a solo chinchilla in a calm, understanding home. Could you be the person to earn her trust and give her the love she deserves?
