About me:
Rocky is a curious, affectionate chinchilla who craves attention and interaction. He always rushes to the front of his enclosure to see what’s happening, eager to explore and engage. Unlike many chinchillas who prefer to observe from a distance, Rocky seems to truly enjoy playtime and human interaction.
Rocky came to our rescue at just 14–15 weeks old after a rough start in life. His previous family purchased him but kept him in an inappropriate enclosure. One day, he squeezed between the bars, got stuck, and was left hanging for an unknown amount of time. When they finally freed him, they took him to an inexperienced emergency vet, and the family refused diagnostics or X-rays. Instead, they were sent home with pain medication—medication they claimed they never gave him.
By the time Rocky was surrendered, he was lethargic, limp, and unable to move his back legs. Our volunteer feared he wouldn’t make it. After reviewing his case, we discovered he had been overdosed on pain medication, and he had nerve damage, though luckily no broken bones. With weeks of physical therapy, Rocky regained full use of his legs and is now a happy, energetic young chinchilla!
He loves chew toys, hammocks, and chin scratches and is now thriving in a "big kid" cage. But what he really needs is a safe, loving forever home.

These animals live in FOSTER HOMES. The rescue group does not have a facility for visitors.
