Looking to adopt a Chinchilla?
We might be able to help! We volunteer as the Chinchilla Rescue Coordinator with Cali_FID Parrot and Exotics Rescue Sanctuary in Modesto, CA—a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
It all began in high school when I discovered the need for chinchilla rescue and fostering in my community. I became the sole chinchilla foster for Cali_FID and, over the past decade, have worked to expand our network of chinchilla foster homes. Today, our dedicated team—including Leah, Amy, Carol, Emily, Nina, Jen, the founder, and myself —has helped countless chinchillas find second chances and better lives.
We’re here to help you learn about and prepare for your future chinchilla companion. Whether you're new to chinchilla care or looking to adopt, feel free to reach out—we’d love to support your journey!
All adoption fees for the Chinchillas are paid to the rescue. We do not keep any of the money, that money is saving lives! Fees are collected during your final adoption appointment IN PERSON. Protect yourself from scams online please!
Please send an adoption application to Cali_FID HERE on their website.
Adoption fees start at $75 and will vary based on age, mutation Color, and how full the rescue is. All chinchillas brought to the rescue go on a medical hold, maternity hold, are evaluated for health and recieve medical care as needed.
Everyone wants a mutation chinchilla, but standard greys are just as soft, and deserving to have a home too. We will NOT separate a bonded pair.
Single Standard Grey Males or Females : $75.00
Bonded Pair of Standard Greys : $75.00
Mutation Males or Females : $100+
Bonded Pair of Mutations : $200+
Standard and Mutation Pair : $175+
Less than 1 year of age starts at $100
We make the pairs or they arrive already together. You cannot select single chinchillas to make a pair, we likely already tried that and they didn’t get along.
What is a mutation? Any color other than standard grey. White, Ebony, Beige, Mosaic, Violet, Black Pearl, Black Velvet, etc.
Reminder : We do not recieve any money for adoptions and remit all adoption fees back to the 501(c)(3) non-profit rescue, Cali_FID.
